Meningococcal meningitis Vaccination
Meningococcal meningitis vaccination
A single dose of the meningococcal meningitis vaccine is injected into the arm muscle. The shot lasts about five years, so even if you have been vaccinated against meningococcal meningitis in the past, you may need another dose. Your Canadian Travel Clinics adviser can give you guidance on this at your appointment.
In some provinces and territories meningococcal meningitis is part of the vaccine schedule. Check your vaccination records for confirmation.
Pilgrims visiting Saudi Arabia for Hajj will need a certificate of vaccination against meningococcal meningitis. The shot needs to be given at least ten days before and no more than five years before your arrival in Saudi Arabia.
